Even though he recently signed a multi-year contract extension, Grayson Allen’s time with the Phoenix Suns may be coming to an end.

According to Evan Sidery, Allen is a “potential trade candidate to monitor” for the Suns.

Sidery wrote, “Allen’s $15.6 million salary could be utilized to help Phoenix attain a championship-level upgrade.”

Allen is currently averaging 10.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game during his second season in Phoenix.

After being a starter for multiple years with both the Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks before that, Allen has seen his role on the court diminish a little bit during 2024–25.

He is playing for 23.1 minutes per game, down from 33.5 last season.

Additionally, he has only started in one game out of 15 this season, which is surprising when you consider he started in 74 of 75 last year.

The Suns are clearly able to get by without Allen, which is one of the reasons why he could be traded.

Sending away his contract could help the Suns acquire more talent, especially because they are strapped for cash and don’t have a lot of money to spend.

If they commit trades this year, it’ll probably be through the utilization of contracts they already have on the books.

Allen is a consistent, if somewhat controversial, star who could help out several teams throughout the league.

If the Suns are really interested in cutting him loose, they will likely hear offers from several front offices.

Would Allen be the only player on the trading block in Phoenix, or would the Suns contemplate saying goodbye to other stars too?
