The Los Angeles Lakers are going through a rough stretch, as the storied franchise has gone from playing at a high level to start the season under new head coach JJ Redick to struggling every time they face a formidable opponent.

Things have gotten so bad for the Lakers that there have been rumors swirling about LeBron James’ immediate future with the franchise, and every fan of the team is calling for some drastic changes to be made in order to right the ship.

Along with struggling to play consistently well with superstars James and Anthony Davis on the floor, the team has some injuries, with guard Austin Reaves dealing with a back issue and other players having yet to make their season debut, like Jarred Vanderbilt and Christian Wood.

With Lakers brass needing to figure out how to get back on track, there’s a chance moves will be made, but an anonymous Western Conference scout believes the team isn’t going anywhere with Reaves as its third-best player.

“If he’s your third-best player, you’re not a championship contender, you’re just not. If you put Austin Reaves on the Oklahoma City Thunder or the Boston Celtics, he’s probably the fifth-, maybe even sixth-best player, on those rosters,” the scout said, via NBACentral.

Although Reaves is a talented player and a success story, considering what he had to accomplish to become a starter for the Lakers as an undrafted player, the team might not be headed in the right direction if he is the best player behind Davis and James.

That said, the Lakers need to act urgently to salvage this season, but it remains to be seen if a game-changing move is possible.
