A woman says she's "so hurt" after her best friend cut her as a bridesmaid — but kept everyone else.

In a post on Reddit's "Wedding" forum, the woman detailed her feelings after being "sacked" as a bridesmaid for a wedding next summer. Despite the bride and groom planning a $30,000 event and the bridesmaid dress only costing $250, they told her they needed to go down from four to three bridesmaids due to "cost-cutting measures."

The poster, who was asked to be a bridesmaid four years ago, doesn't think that the price of the bridesmaid dress is "that big of a deal" in the grand scheme of things, and said that her gift to the couple would have exceeded the cost of the dress. She also would have been willing to pay for the dress herself, as would the rest of the bridesmaids.

"We had no falling out, and I do a lot for her. More than she ever does for me," the poster said of her relationship with the bride. "She blurted all this out after a bottle of wine as though she was building up the courage to tell me."

Since the bride informed the woman that she is no longer a bridesmaid, she hasn't mentioned the subject at all.

"I am still invited to the wedding, but it's embarrassing having to tell friends and family I am no longer a bridesmaid," the woman continued. "I feel so hurt."

She asked the forum: "Am I right to feel hurt by this or am I just being selfish?"

Most commenters validated the woman's feelings, but suggested she should reevaluate the friendship because they didn't buy the "cost-cutting" reasoning behind her being axed from her role in the bridal party.

"'No longer required' to be a bridesmaid? I'd be relieved and hurt at the same time," one person commented. "It's way more fun and less responsibility to be a guest than a bridesmaid. But I understand being hurt by being dumped for what sounds like a totally BS reason."

Another person wrote, "The self-respecting option is to accept her 'decision' without protest, and not attend the wedding at all. Imagine being there and looking at every decision that could've 'saved' $250. Watching all the other bridesmaids — who were too important to get cut — have fun and take photos."

"And imagine writing a check as a gift when the need for your presence as a bridesmaid was suddenly turned off like a spigot," they added. "My guess is the 'cost' is a proxy for some other reason to eliminate you. In any scenario, it's not a good idea to go."
