AC Milan have announced the induction of three legendary strikers into their newly established Hall of Fame: Marco Van Basten, Andriy Shevchenko, and Filippo Inzaghi. These iconic forwards join Franco Baresi, the club’s Honorary Vice President, who was the inaugural inductee earlier this year.
The selection process involved a worldwide vote by Milan fans, highlighting the global appeal and impact of these players. The induction ceremony is set to take place before the upcoming match between Milan and Genoa, which will also mark the club’s 125th anniversary celebration.
At San Siro, Van Basten, Shevchenko, and Inzaghi will be honored with personalized trophies crafted by Tiffany & Co., symbolizing their significant contributions to the club’s rich history. While Van Basten and Inzaghi are expected to attend the ceremony, Shevchenko, who was present at a previous event, will be honoured at San Siro on a future date.
Van Basten, the Dutch maestro, is remembered for his exceptional skill and crucial goals that helped Milan dominate European football in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Shevchenko, the Ukrainian striker, became a Milan icon during his tenure from 1999 to 2006, winning the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or. Inzaghi, now managing Pisa, was a prolific goalscorer for Milan, playing a key role in their domestic and European successes.
