Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s transfer to Paris Saint-Germain is on the verge of completion, marking the end of his remarkable two-year stint with Napoli. The Georgian winger has reportedly left Napoli’s training ground at Castel Volturno for the last time, bringing his tenure with the Serie A champions to a close.
Kvaratskhelia, who played a pivotal role in Napoli’s first Scudetto triumph in 33 years, is now set to embark on a new chapter in his career with the French giants. The 23-year-old did not participate in today’s training session due to a lingering muscle issue, which has been affecting him in recent weeks.
PSG and Napoli have been in constant communication over the past few days to finalize the details of the transfer. According to the latest reports, Kvaratskhelia’s representatives have already reached a complete agreement with PSG on a five-year contract, which will see the player earn €9 million per season plus bonuses.
The final hurdle in the negotiations was the agreement between the two clubs, which now appears to have been overcome. The most recent meeting between the parties seems to have resolved any remaining doubts about Kvaratskhelia’s transfer. This development follows Napoli manager Antonio Conte’s public admission of the player’s desire to leave Serie A for PSG.
Conte expressed his disappointment, stating, “I’m disappointed, but not with the player or my club. I’m disappointed in myself because I wasn’t able to make a difference in these six months to change something. I don’t blame others; I always take responsibility. I thought I could have a different impact in these six months, but instead I realized we were back to square one.”
The two clubs have reportedly reached a verbal agreement in principle for a deal worth €70 million plus bonuses. The final step now is to secure approval from the owners of both clubs, Aurelio De Laurentiis of Napoli and Nasser Al-Khelaifi of PSG. Once this is obtained, Kvaratskhelia will be clear to begin his new adventure in Paris under the guidance of manager Luis Enrique.
