Barcelona president Joan Laporta has spoken out about Ronald Araujo’s future at the club, amidst growing interest from Juventus. In a press conference today, Laporta expressed the club’s desire to retain all their players, including the Uruguayan defender.
“We want to keep all the players in our squad. Araujo has an ongoing contract, but I know he’s in talks with the technical area. We will find a solution,” Laporta stated. He went on to praise Araujo both professionally and personally, emphasizing the club’s appreciation for the player.
Laporta hinted at some complexities in the situation, saying, “There are certain aspects to consider, which I don’t want to go into detail about. But I can say there’s room to find a solution that satisfies everyone.”
Barcelona’s new manager, Hans-Dieter Flick, also expressed his admiration for Araujo, who has recently returned from a severe biceps femoris tendon injury. Flick commented, “I’ve seen there are many rumors. Ronald has come back from a terrible injury and is now ready to play. He’s a good option and a very professional player. We’ve taken great care of him. It’s not my job to discuss rumors, but I want him in my team. He’s one of the best defenders out there.”
Meanwhile, Juventus continue to pursue Araujo, reportedly willing to offer between 35-40 million euros for a loan with an option to buy. However, Barcelona’s asking price is significantly higher, with the Catalan club demanding around 60 million euros for the defender’s departure.
