Fleetwood’s clash with Wimbledon and Chesterfield’s match against Gillingham have both been called off after heavy snow storms.
Officials decided to call off the League Two matches this morning while Liverpool and Manchester United nervously wait to see if their showdown is suspended.
Liverpool is under an amber weather warning from the Met Office but it only took a yellow-tier caution for snow and ice to see Fleetwood’s match at Highbury Stadium called off.
Meanwhile, a yellow warning for snow and ice, as well as an upgraded amber warning for snow alone, has been slapped on Chesterfield.
Fleetwood shared a picture of their frostbitten pitch as they confirmed the bad news in a statement to supporters.

‘Due to the fitness of the pitch and surrounding area due to heavy snowfall on the Fylde Coast during Saturday night into Sunday morning a call was made in consultation with the EFL and PGMOL,’ the Cod Army wrote.
‘A new date will be communicated with supporters as soon as practicable and tickets for the fixture will remain valid for the rearranged game.’
The call on Chesterfield was made early after a pitch inspection was carried out at 7.45am.
However, officials are taking longer to make their mind up about the Premier League’s blockbuster 4.30pm clash.
Liverpool City council’s Safety Advisory Group held meeting at 9am this morning and will reconvene at midday to make a final decision.
Images on social media show a layer of snow blanketing the ground on the streets around Anfield, with one fan claiming it looks ‘like Siberia’.
Liverpool wrote on X at 9.31am: ‘A safety meeting was held this morning to assess the weather and travel conditions for today’s fixture against Manchester United at Anfield.
‘At this stage the match is planned to go ahead as normal and every effort is being made to get the game on. A further safety meeting will take place again at midday to assess the latest conditions. We will update supporters just as soon as we can. Please take extra care out there, Reds.’
