The Golden State Warriors are struggling to find consistency.
Steve Kerr continues to shake up his starting lineups and rotations, and while that has rarely worked out for a team, it’s opened the door for Jonathan Kuminga to explore multiple roles.
He’s been on an absolute tear over the past couple of games.
Kuminga scored 34 in the loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, and then he had 34 again to lead the team past the Phoenix Suns.
That’s why his coach praised him, stating that he’s finally turning the corner and not settling for long twos (via Anthony Slater).
Steve Kerr said he feels like Jonathan Kuminga is “turning the corner.” Said he isn’t “settling for 17-footers.” There has been this breakthrough messaging several times before, but Kerr said he feels this time is “different.”

Kuminga is one of the most athletic players in the league, but he’s never been much of a shooter.
Of course, he could and should still add that to his game, but he needs to be smarter in getting to his spots at this point in his development.
He’s almost unstoppable when he attacks the rim.
His long arms, speed, and strength make him a perennial threat above the rim and in the dunker’s spot.
He’s been better in the elbows as well.
The Warriors were without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green in their latest outing, and Kuminga was asked to step up and prove what he was capable of.
If the team wants to make a deep postseason run, they will either have to rely on Kuminga as their second scorer or trade him for a win-now piece, so these games will be key to determining what path to take.
