The Los Angeles Lakers have won five out of six games after Saturday night’s win over the Sacramento Kings, which moved them to 18-13 on the year.
However, Sunday morning’s blockbuster trade clearly showed that the front office wasn’t satisfied.
Many fans have been begging for the Lakers to make a big move for months, and their wish finally came true.
According to sources, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Sunday morning that the Lakers have agreed to send D’Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis, and three second-round picks to the Brooklyn Nets for Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton.

I was convinced him and Cam Johnson were going to be a package. But this is fantastic. Lakers got their lockdown guy with some additional shooting

Finney-Smith and Shake are big upgrades over DLo. Guys that know their role and play defense.

Ironically, this is the second time the Lakers have traded Russell to the Nets, as seven years ago, he was sent alongside Timofey Mozgov to the Nets for Brook Lopez and the draft rights to Kyle Kuzma.
It has been clear that Russell has been falling out of the team’s good graces this season, as head coach J.J. Redick has been visibly frustrated with his shot selection and effort multiple times.
He had also been relegated to a permanent bench role for the first time in his career since his offensive struggles made it tough to justify keeping him in the starting lineup.
Russell is shooting just 41.5 percent this season and 33.3 percent from three-point range en route to a career-low 12.4 points per game.
He’ll look to rebuild his value in Brooklyn once again before free agency next offseason, while the Lakers will add Finney-Smith to the rotation.
DFS is shooting 43.5 percent from three-point range and is one of the league’s better wing defenders, so it will be interesting to see where he and Milton fit into this team’s plans going forward.
