Thursday evening marked a special moment for the NBA, as Steph Curry became the first player in league history to reach 4,000 three-pointers.

Following that major achievement, head coach Steve Kerr was asked how many threes Curry could score before retirement.

“8 thousand?” Kerr said with a smile on his face, per the NBA on X.

Kerr then said it felt like it wasn’t long ago that Curry reached the all-time three-point record and he believes the Warriors superstar has at least 1,000 more treys in him before he steps away from the game.

When Curry started his career, no player in history had ever made 3,000 three-pointers.

Now Curry has surpassed that total and is still adding more to his tally every night.

The home crowd erupted with joy on Thursday when Curry sank his historic shot, which was one of the two threes he made during the game.

They knew they were once again witnessing history.

Curry is averaging 24.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.1 assists this season, shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from beyond the arc.

He is landing an average of 4.4 threes per game, which means he has many more in him before the end of this season.

Curry is celebrating his 37th birthday on Friday, so he is getting closer to retirement.

But as long as he remains healthy, he could play for several more seasons.

And every game he plays, he will add more to this one-of-a-kind record.

Curry has already broken records but continues to make NBA history, proving there really hasn’t been any shooter like him.
