The playoffs may be out of reach this year for the Portland Trail Blazers but they do have some promising players on their roster that suggest a bright future is coming.

Scoot Henderson, now in his second season, has developed many of his skills and has been showing off a lot lately.

According to Evan Sidery, Henderson has averaged 15.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.2 assists during the last two months, with a 60.1 true shooting percentage and going 41.9 percent from beyond the three-point line.

The Blazers are still the 13th seed in the West with a 28-39 record but fans have been very happy with some of the things they have seen from them lately.

Henderson’s season average is currently 12.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.1 assists, which is actually a little less than what he did during his rookie season last year.

Still, Portland fans are becoming increasingly convinced that Henderson might be the future of the team for a long time.

He joined the team at a very difficult time when they were trying to find a post-Damian Lillard identity.

That put him in a tough spot and the rest of his rookie class did as well.

He was third behind Brandon Miller and Victor Wembanyama and entered the NBA along with players such as Ausar and Amen Thompson, Dereck Lively II, Brandin Podziemski, and more.

Henderson was somewhat overshadowed during his first year and certain Blazers fans didn’t feel he was living up to expectations.

He still has some things to work out in his game but he’s been playing a lot better and appears more comfortable leading.

This recent run by Henderson suggests he might actually live up to the hype.
