Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Was Asked If He’s The MVP This Season

There is no doubt that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder is one of the best players in the NBA right now.

His numbers have been amazing this season, and his team has never been better.

But when asked by Joel Lorenzi, via Legion Hoops, about winning MVP, Gilgeous-Alexander had an answer that proves he is focused only on helping his team win.

Gilgeous-Alexander said:

“MVPs are never won after 40 games. 40 more of these and yeah sure.”

Shai was asked if he thinks he’s the MVP this season.

His response: “MVPs are never won after 40 games. 40 more of these and yeah sure.”

Yes, Gilgeous-Alexander has only played 37 games so far this season, but they have been a terrific 37 games.

He is averaging 31.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game this season, shooting 52.7 percent from the field.

And the Thunder have benefited from Gilgeous-Alexander’s terrific play.

They are currently the top team in the West with a 32-6 record, 6.5 wins ahead of the second-place Houston Rockets.

This has already been a major season for the Thunder because it’s proven to the rest of the league that they really are the best of the West and a group to be feared.

Gilgeous-Alexander has been leading the way and has gained a lot of attention and tons of praise.

When the season kicked off, it looked like Nikola Jokic could be on the way to yet another MVP trophy.

But now Gilgeous-Alexander is the frontrunner to win, although he isn’t paying too much attention.

Instead, he is trying to make sure his team wins as much as possible and has the best season.

MVP would be nice, but going all the way to the Finals would be much nicer for Gilgeous-Alexander.
