Shaboozey Turns GQ’s American Rodeo Livestream All the Way Up
CultureThe Men of the Year honoree helped our event get tipsy in the best way.By Frazier TharpePhotography by Krista SchlueterNovember 15, 2024Save this storySaveSave this storySaveEvery good rodeo needs a ringleader, and last night at GQ’s American Rodeo-themed live 2024 Men of the Year Event, Shaboozey took it upon himself to get everyone in party mode.Halfway into the livestream, Shaboozey—dressed magnificently on point with glittery gold-flecked tassels running down his entire outfit and a belt buckle the size of a dinner plate—entered the main stage saloon setup and turned things up a few notches with his banger “Drink Don’t Need No Mix.” What better way to set a tone for the night than starting off with a song about getting faded as quickly as possible?After his performance, Shaboozey stepped over to the saloon bar for a chat with stream co-hosts Chris Black and Jason Stewart, who grilled the country star with questions about how he’s been reaping the benefits of his breakout year and whether or not he’s been actually buying the Birkin bags he namedrops for any lucky ladies. Chris and Jason also pressed Shaboozey for his go-to hangover cure since drinking is such a prevalent theme in his music; hilariously, the singer’s best advice was to just drink more Jack Daniels.Of course, a Shaboozey appearance would be incomplete without the de facto soundtrack of 2024. To close out the event, all of GQ’s Men of the Year honorees—including John Mulaney, Pharrell, Dwayne Johnson, Hannah Einbinder, Malcolm and John David Washington, and more—gathered alongside GQ global editorial director Will Welch to send the stream off on a high note with a rousing rendition of “Bar Song,” before everyone took his and J-Kwon’s advice and headed inside Bar Marmont for another memorable GQ night.
