Tijjani Reijnders is in talks with Milan to extend his contract as he’s landed on the radar of some major clubs thanks to his early performances. The midfielder isn’t in a rush to flee San Siro, as he told Gianlucadimarzio.com.
“We’re discussing the renewal, but I can’t say more than that about it for now. However, I see myself in this club until I’m well over 30. It’s one of the best teams in the world. It’s an honor to play for it. Wearing Johan Cruijff’s no.14 is truly special. I’m happy here.”
Reijnders took stock of the Milan season so far.
“We have to improve in Serie A. I’m confident ahead of the game versus Juventus. Instead, our destiny is in our hands in the Champions League. Our goal is to finish in the top eight. The only way to achieve that is to win matches.”
Reijnders remains hopeful about his team’s title chances despite the gap from the top of the table.
“I don’t think it’s too late for the Scudetto. There are a few sides within a handful of points from each other. We’re evolving as a team, and things will improve. I’m happy that the Netherlands qualified for the Nations League’s Round of Eight. It’s a nice feeling. Now we’ll face Bosnia, then it’ll be time to focus on the Rossoneri again.”
Reijnders has found more consistency in the final third in his second campaign at Milan. He has recorded four goals and three assists across all competitions, almost matching last year’s total tallies already.
