Ranieri addresses Dybala’s future amid transfer rumours

Roma coach Claudio Ranieri spoke to Sportmediaset on the eve of the team’s Coppa Italia match against Sampdoria, addressing various topics including Paulo Dybala’s future with the club.

Regarding the upcoming match, Ranieri emphasized its importance: “It’s an opportunity for redemption. We had an unacceptable second half against Como. We care about the Coppa Italia; Roma has won it 9 times. The fans care, I care, and so do the players. Sampdoria has changed coaches, and everyone will want to show their worth. It’s a match we must approach cautiously, and we need to be ready and tenacious.”

When asked about potential changes within the club, Ranieri remained discreet: “What we say among ourselves stays between us. We will be vigilant, keep our eyes open, and we must bring in players who can improve the team. Signing players just to appease our fans isn’t right. If we can improve, that’s fine, otherwise we’ll continue as we are.”

The most intriguing comments came regarding Paulo Dybala’s situation. Ranieri stated: “Everyone plays their own game, does their own job. I’m happy to have him and play him when he’s fit. If he has other priorities, we need to agree mutually. If he doesn’t want to stay and there’s a possibility, we must accept it. I only want players who are eager to be here. But I haven’t perceived any discomfort from Dybala.”

These comments come amidst rumors of Dybala’s potential move to Galatasaray. The Argentine’s agent reportedly met with the Turkish club yesterday, and negotiations could develop in the coming hours. The contact between the parties was also confirmed by Galatasaray’s vice president.

Dybala is expected to be on the bench for tomorrow’s match. After nearly leaving in August, he might now depart Roma in January, adding another chapter to the ongoing saga of his future with the club.
