This month, Nuno Mendes and Paris Saint-Germain agreed to a contract extension, keeping the Portuguese standout in the French capital until 2029.

RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins recently reported that Mendes’ contract extension will keep him at the club until 2029, making him one of their highest earners. He’s also set to follow PSG’s new wage policy, which includes a base salary and bonuses based on performance and matches played.

Moreover, Manchester United was set on securing Nuno Mendes as transfer rumors emerged. With Ruben Amorim at the helm at Old Trafford, it came as no surprise that he wanted a player who he coached at Sporting Lisbon.

Eventually, the Red Devils needed to abandon their pursuit of Mendes and turned their attention to Patrick Dorgu.

There was a reason that Manchester United had their eyes on Mendes and not only for his past connection with Amorim. The PSG player is highly regarded as one of the best players in his position, and Score 90 ranked him as the top left-back.

Mendes was ahead of Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco, Manchester City’s Joško Gvardiol, FC Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde, and Bayern Munich’s Alejandro Grimaldo.
