Paris Saint-Germain could reportedly complete a long-awaited deal for wantaway Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on favorable terms. According to
L’Equipe, the Georgian’s impending arrival won’t set the club back €80 million as initially expected.
Indeed, Kvaratskhelia’s decision to leave Napoli after less than three years has tipped the balance scales in PSG’s favor, allowing
Les Parisiens to enter negotiations from the position of power. As a result, the perennial Ligue 1 champions won’t need to spend beyond €70m to secure the deal.
Kvaratskhelia has already informed Napoli of his decision to leave Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Unlike last summer, president Aurelio De Laurentiis is no longer willing to tolerate the 23-year-old’s pressure on the club to sanction his exit.
Though Luis Enrique’s men remain in pole position to sign the Napoli star, they’re not the only team after him. Indeed, Chelsea and Liverpool have emerged as potential suitors for the former Dinamo Batumi ace. However, the perennial French champions are close to winning the race.
PSG and Kvaratskhelia have already agreed upon personal terms, with the elite winger waiting for the club’s green light with bated breath. His imminent departure threatens to compromise Antonio Conte’s bid to inspire Napoli to their second Serie A title win in three years.
However, it’d hand the club enough money to pursue a decent alternative. Napoli have emerged as a potential destination for outgoing Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegri. But the Italian midfielder has plenty of admirers in the country and abroad.
