Paul George Reveals His Thoughts On Declining NBA Ratings

There has been a big conversation about the ratings of the NBA and how viewers are flocking away from the league.

Everything from load management to streaming problems to too many three-pointers have been listed as the cause of this issue.

Speaking on his podcast, via Legion Hoops, Paul George offered his opinion on the matter.

He said that “analytics kind of took over” before adding that coaches now want players to put up “three-pointers, layups, or get to the free throw line.”

Obviously, this is a point that many other people have made.

Countless NBA fans feel the league has relied far too much on the three-point shot lately.

They say that has taken away a level of excitement and made the NBA feel more generic, boring, and by the numbers.

Of course, three-pointers can still be wildly exciting, but they grow stale when there are too many of them.

It’s more than just that, according to Paul, and he would know since he’s been in the league for years.

He added that the number of injuries has hurt the NBA product, as well as a lack of rivalries that old-school basketball fans grew up with.

Times have definitely changed, and the league is certainly facing some ratings problems.

However, their Christmas Day games were wildly popular and brought in millions of viewers, so the NBA is obviously still doing something right.

The debate about the declining ratings will continue but it’s not clear if the league will do anything to change how things are run.
