The Cleveland Browns find themselves at a pivotal moment, with star defensive end Myles Garrett making his stance crystal clear: He’s focused on winning, not rebuilding.
In recent discussions with the front office, Garrett emphasized his desire for the team to compete at a high level now, seeking clarity on their future direction.
Interestingly, Garrett has turned to Cleveland sports icon LeBron James for guidance, with these conversations centering around vocal leadership and maximizing his platform.
James, who played 11 seasons for the Cleveland Cavaliers and remains a devoted Browns fan, has become a valuable mentor for Garrett.
“He’s seen everything on the sports side of it and his advice has been very valuable. Him, his team, just being able to be around them and learn from them has been very useful these last couple years. … Definitely using my platform and using my voice to my benefit and my team’s benefit has been crucial,” Garrett said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

The timing of Garrett’s comments comes as the Browns navigate troubled waters. With a disappointing 3-12 record, the team faces tough decisions, particularly at quarterback.
The situation with Deshaun Watson complicates matters significantly. His season-ending Achilles injury clouds what would typically be a straightforward decision, and his massive $230 million contract, running through 2026, includes a no-trade clause.
Should the Browns choose to rebuild, trading Garrett could fetch multiple first-round picks, a tempting proposition for a team needing a fresh start.
The reigning Defensive Player of the Year seems to recognize these possibilities are on the horizon, though it’s uncertain whether Cleveland’s front office shares this perspective.
