Rashford to follow Osimhen?
Agent George Gardi has claimed that he will be able to take Man Utd attacker Marcus Rashford to Galatasaray.
“I can bring Rashford,” Fanatik claims he has told Galatasaray officials.
While this may sound like a far-fetched claim, Gardi is the man who masterminded the deals that have brought Mauro Icardi and Victor Osimhen to the Turkish club, so he does have history when it comes to pulling off the seemingly impossible.
Galatasaray are in need of further attacking options, with Icardi having suffered a serious injury that will likely end his season and potentially continue into next, while Osimhen will probably depart when his loan from Napoli ends in the summer.
Rashford, meanwhile, faces questions over his role at Man Utd given the struggles he has endured in recent teams. He did, however, score the first goal of the Ruben Amorim era against Ipswich.
“We’ll try to find the right solution for him, as for the other players,” Amorim explained on Wednesday.
“But he has to be Marcus, first of all, to try to return to that moment and then he will have all the help of the staff, the club and the fans because he’s a Manchester United boy. But he has to be the first one to want it.”
Osimhen a January target
United have drawn up a four-man striker shortlist to address Amorim’s “concern” that the team is not scoring enough goals – and Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres is not among the targets.
Sky Germany claim that a mid-season move for the Sweden international is not viable due to the price that Sporting would demand.
Instead, the Red Devils are monitoring four strikers with a month to go before the transfer window opens.
- Victor Osimhen – Galatasaray (on loan from Napoli)
- Omar Marmoush – Eintracht Frankfurt
- Randal Kolo Muani – PSG
- Victor Boniface – Benfica
Amorim has refused to pin the blame on any particular player, however.
“Of course, there is a concern in that but I think we have to improve as a team,” he said of this particular headache.
Maresca shoots down Nkunku deal
Christopher Nkunku had been linked with Man Utd in January, but Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca appears to have ended any prospect of this deal being concluded.
Asked if the former RB Leipzig is not for sale in January, the Chelsea manager replied: “Absolutely, yes.”
He added: “I spoke to Christo days ago and he did not say he was unhappy. For sure, he would like to play minutes but like many players. We have so many games, especially in December.”
Man Utd’s left-back options
Manchester United have been linked with four left-backs as they seek a bulletproof option for a position at Old Trafford that has been beset by injuries in recent months. Neither Luke Shaw nor Tyrell Malacia have proven physically reliable.
Rudy Galetti reports that they are chasing Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell, Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri and Benfica’s Alvaro Carreras.
Furthermore, Florian Plettenberg has reiterated that Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez is still a target for the Red Devils, a fact first revealed by FootballTransfers last summer and reiterated earlier this month.
Ederson interest confirmed
Atalanta midfielder Ederson remains a transfer target for Ruben Amorim’s side. Interest has built from a number of sides in recent weeks, with Teamtalk claiming that Manchester City and Liverpool are also following the Brazilian.
United have already made contact with the player’s entourage and Ederson is said to be open to the idea of moving to the Premier League.
Man Utd have been told, however, that it will take a “monster” bid to trigger a deal for the 25-year-old. The Serie A club want at least €60 million for the player.
No deal will be forthcoming until next summer as Atalanta are not in a position to buy.
Van Nistelrooy close to Premier League job
Ruud van Nistelrooy is on the brink of being appointed Leicester City manager, having only left Man Utd earlier this month.
The Dutchman was initially Erik ten Hag’s assistant manager and then took over as interim boss following the sacking of his compatriot.
