The Los Angeles Lakers couldn’t take care of business vs. the Boston Celtics.

The defending NBA champions put an end to the Lakers’ strong momentum and beat them 111-101.

Following the loss, Luka Doncic tipped his hat to Joe Mazzulla’s team (via Spectrum SportsNet):

“They have an amazing team, amazing players, especially here, it’s very tough to play and very tough to beat them,” he said.

Doncic sure knows a thing or two about the Celtics.

They beat him in the NBA Finals months ago, just when no one imagined he would end up being traded to the Lakers.

Jaylen Brown’s defense has been a problem for Doncic, and he’s had issues getting past him and finding any openings as he drives to the lane.

Now, Doncic is going to have to do a lot of heavy lifting for J.J. Redick’s team.

According to a report by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, LeBron James will be out for weeks with an injured groin.

And while James usually heals faster than the average NBA player, the team isn’t likely to take any chances with their aging superstar.

This is what they acquired Doncic for.

He’s going to have to put the team on his shoulders and be their go-to guy now that LeBron is on the shelf, and he’s proven that he can do that over and over.

The Lakers overcame a slow start to the season and climbed all the way up to the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference.

Who knows? If James comes back in time, they might even give Doncic a chance to get back at the Celtics in the NBA Finals.
