Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has promised that his return from injury will see an improved version of himself, despite the fact that he has a case to be their player of the season already. He also provided a window into how the squad were feeling at the end of Xavi Hernandez’s reign.
The 17-year-old has given an interview to Barcelona’s club media, and noted that he is looking forward to coming back. After missing around a month with an ankle Sprain in November, Lamine Yamal suffered a relapse of the issue in mid-December against Leganes.

“I’m certain I’ll come back better and with more desire. When you’re away for a while you realise how much you like your job. I will return better than ever. I think it wasn’t a problem with the other injury; It was bad luck. A knock to the ankle…”
The 17-year-old was content with the direction of the club, and praised manager Hansi Flick for ‘always saying the right thing at the righ time’, and explaining his decisions to players. However the chaos that appeared to be unfolding last season was also felt in the dressing rooom.

He also spoke about the excitement amongst the fans, saying it’s the most enthusiasm they’ve seen at Montjuic. Earlier this season, Lamine Yamal got his first goal against Real Madrid. Although he remembered that the previous year he saw a goal controversially disallowed.
“I already scored last year, although they didn’t want to count it…. Then, this season it was the 0-3 that sentenced the game a bit. It’s a dream, and so on. We arrived in Barcelona and we all went out. We only thought about going out. My mother put the goal on her WhatsApp status 30 times. The favourite goal of the year is the one against France, and the goal that everyone will remember. And the one from the Clasico.”
