Lakers Reportedly Discussed A Trade For Bulls Star

For years, the Chicago Bulls have been shopping Zach LaVine around.

The UCLA product is a very good player, but he might not be what they need right now.

With that in mind, the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly touched base with them.

According to a report by Bulls insider Joe Cowley (via NBA Central), both teams engaged in talks centered around LaVine.

Unfortunately, the talks didn’t get very far.

LaVine has been tied to the Lakers multiple times in the past.

They’re one of the few teams that could be desperate enough to absorb his massive contract to try and make a deep postseason run.

There haven’t been any takers for LaVine, as he’s making top dollar and has been hurt more often than not.

The Bulls had no choice but to overpay for his services, and they’re now paying the price for that.

He’s a very good player, but he could be a second or third option for a championship contender, and those are usually available at a lower price.

Still, with the Lakers desperately looking to give LeBron James even more help, they could be tempted to pull the trigger and go after LaVine.

The Lakers need to get younger and think about the future.

LaVine could help them stay relevant alongside Anthony Davis once James is gone.

And while they wouldn’t be a championship-caliber team even with him joining them now, it’s hard to argue that he would at least make them more entertaining to watch.
