The NBA’s trade deadline is just hours away, and one team that hasn’t come up much in trade rumors is the New York Knicks.
The Knicks are considered by most to be legitimate championship contenders, but they could use a little more depth, especially at the wing spot, as they look to improve their 34-17 record heading deeper into the winter.
According to ESPN reporter Tim Bontemps, they’re expected to move center Jericho Sims ahead of the deadline, per NBACentral.

Sims isn’t a very attractive trade piece, as he’s averaging just 1.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 10.8 minutes a game this season, but he could be a decent depth player for a number of teams.
The Knicks were already looking like budding contenders last spring, but after trading for two-way wing Mikal Bridges and star big man Karl-Anthony Towns during the offseason, they’re in the process of becoming a true powerhouse.
They have been waiting on the return of center Mitchell Robinson, who has been out for months due to an ankle injury but is reportedly progressing a bit in his rehab.
Robinson is an energetic, hard-working center who pounds the boards, protects the rim and blocks shots, and there is the potential for head coach Tom Thibodeau to play him alongside Towns at the same time.
With the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics struggling lately and the Cleveland Cavaliers lacking some seasoning, the door could be open for the Knicks to win it all this June for the first time since 1973.
