In a historic move, Juventus’ Allianz Stadium is set to host its first non-football event since opening in September 2011. While the football team will be away playing a big match against Milan, the stadium will be the venue for an international rugby match featuring the Italian national team.
This groundbreaking event opens new frontiers for the city of Turin and sports in general. The Italian rugby team will face the formidable New Zealand All Blacks in the third and final test match of the Autumn Nations Series. The match is scheduled to kick off at 21:10.
The official announcement states: “November 23rd will be another memorable day for Allianz Stadium, and this time football and Juventus are not involved. Our home will, for the first time, open its doors for a non-football event: the ball will be oval, and on the pitch of Bianconeri achievements, the Italian Rugby team will take the field in a super challenge against the All Blacks.”
The statement continues: “At 21:10, Gonzalo Quesada’s Italy will face New Zealand in the third and final test match of the Autumn Nations Series. This match, as mentioned, will be special because it represents an unprecedented ‘premiere’ in our facility, the result of an agreement signed between Juventus and the Italian Rugby Federation.”
This unique event is seen as a way to anticipate changes, view the world with different eyes, and imagine innovative stories. After Juventus’ match against Fonseca’s Milan at 18:00 on Saturday the 23rd, the city’s attention will partly shift to the rugby clash at Allianz Stadium, which is heading towards a sell-out.
To mark this special occasion, the Juventus Museum is hosting a dedicated rugby exhibition.
