Venezia Eyes Balotelli as Transfer Deadline Approaches

Venezia are making a last-minute push to secure Mario Balotelli’s services as the transfer window nears its close. The Italian striker, currently with Genoa, has found himself on the fringes of the team and is actively seeking a move away.

Calciomercato report how Balotelli’s time at Genoa appears to be coming to an end, having made just six appearances totalling 56 minutes since his arrival in October as Andrea Pinamonti’s backup. The 34-year-old has not featured in Genoa’s last six league matches under manager Patrick Vieira, signalling a clear fall from favour.

Genoa’s sporting director Ottolini recently confirmed the club’s intention to find a suitable solution for Balotelli, stating, “We’ll look for an appropriate solution for everyone, a place where he can go to play.”

While Balotelli has reportedly received offers from Saudi Arabia, Brazil (Corinthians), Japan, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, and South Korea – all of which he has previously turned down – a new opportunity has emerged closer to home.

According to recent reports, Venezia have initiated contact with Balotelli’s representatives. The Venetian club are in need of a striker following the imminent departure of Joel Pohjanpalo to Palermo, with the Finnish forward having already completed his medical with the Sicilian side.

As the February 3rd transfer deadline looms, Venezia’s interest in Balotelli could provide the former Manchester City and Inter Milan striker with a chance to revitalize his career in Serie A.
