Jamie Carragher gives update after leaving CBS Sports studio early with illness
Jamie Carragher has assured fans that he’s okay after leaving CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage early on Wednesday night. The iconic CBS team featuring the Liverpool legend, Thierry Henry, Micah Richards and host Kate Scott were reunited on Wednesday night. Carragher was present on Wednesday night, but soon left the CBS Sports studioX: @CBSSportsGolazo Carragher was absent from the studio on Tuesday as he was attending the Reds’ Champions League last-16 second leg defeat against Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield. But he was back in for the final round of the last-16 clashes to dissect the big matches which includes Arsenal against PSV and Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid, as well as Aston Villa vs Club Brugge. Earlier in the show, Scott had mocked Carragher for a viral image of him in the stands at Anfield looking glum after his beloved side crashed out on penalties. Announcing Carragher’s return, she said: “Tonight, just like the story of the prodigal son. “A bit too big for his boots, he thought that life would be sweeter on the road, he thought he’d be away, enjoying drinking and revelling. “But he took a major loss and realised his foolishness and he came home humbled, hoping that he would be accepted. “Jamie Carragher, back in the chair.” Scott’s monologue drew laughter from the panel, with Henry and Richards shaking Carragher’s hand after ‘missing’ him the night prior. But Carragher soon departed the studio and was not present for their half-time analysis of the evening’s fixtures. Scott had told the viewers at half-time that Carragher had been allowed to depart early after he had not been feeling well. Carragher returned to the studio on Wednesday having visited Anfield on TuesdayX: @CBSSportsGolazo There was never a suggestion that Carragher had a serious illness and the 47-year-old updated fans hours after leaving the studio, insisting he was already feeling better. “Feeling better now and just checking if the team can cope without me,” Carragher posted on his Instagram story. Carragher had appeared in good form prior to his exit as he commented on a comical train journey he had getting into London – where he fired a stinging shot at Arsenal in the process. He remarked: “I was on the train this morning, obviously a bit disappointed with last night… the Champions League music comes on the train. “I’m thinking, ‘What?,’ I haven’t heard that before. That comes on, and then the guy starts saying, ‘When you get to Euston, if you want directions to Paris… “I’m thinking, ‘What’s he on about here?,’ and then he did the same when we got there. Carragher reassured fans that he is okayInstagram @23_carra “So I said to the lad who was the attendant, ‘Where’s the train driver?’ “He went, ‘Oh he’s three [carriages] down,’ it was too far to go, we just got into Euston. “He was an Arsenal fan I found out, so he’s putting all that on. “So I said to the attendant, ‘Just make sure you tell him that Arsenal haven’t won anything in 20 years and just make sure you tell him I told you and can you pass on the message please.’ “So the train driver had a bit of fun and hopefully maybe I had a little bit of fun later at his expense if his understudy told him.”
