With that in mind, Evan Sidery of Forbes Sports reports that C.J. McCollum has emerged as a likely trade candidate.

He’s currently making $33.3 million this season and about to make $30.7 million in the final year of his deal next season.

Sidery adds that the market for Brandon Ingram remains “non-existent.”

He also reports that the Pelicans will likely pivot towards a rebuild after starting the season with four wins in 20 games.

McCollum is a proven veteran.

He can play on and off the ball, and while he’s not a traditional playmaker, he can handle point guard duties during stretches.

He can also score from all three levels, giving any contending team a big boost.

Finding someone who can fit his steep salary on their books will be easier said than done.

Ingram is reportedly looking to get a max contract extension, and the market seems to be drying out for him.

He’s struggled with injuries, and he’s also left plenty to be desired in crucial moments.

The Pelicans have a lot of talent, but it doesn’t mean much when they can’t seem to stay healthy at the same time.
