Over the last few weeks, there have been several headlines about the viewership of the NBA.

The league isn’t receiving as many viewers as it has in the past and people are questioning what needs to be done to get more people watching.

According to Gilbert Arenas, the problem with the league is clear: fans have to subscribe to too many services in order to watch all games.

According to Legion Hoops, Arenas said:

“You gotta have [every streaming service]. It’s perfect for [the NBA] but for the viewers, you’re f—–g us!”

Arenas is likely referring to NBA League Pass, which is a paid subscription service that allows fans to watch their favorite teams all season long.

However, League Pass doesn’t give access to all games, and viewers who want to ensure they can view each match of the season need cable and a couple of streaming services on top of that.

If Arenas is upset now, he should wait until next season.

Back in July, the league signed a new licensing deal with Amazon’s Prime Video.

That means that next season, fans will need a Prime account if they wish to be a part of all games.

There are now multiple outlets carrying NBA games, which can be frustrating for people who were raised on a steady diet of basketball with only a regular cable subscription.

Times have changed and enjoying the NBA is getting costlier.

Is this the sole reason that viewer numbers are down for the league?

Probably not, but it doesn’t help and NBA officials need to keep that in mind as they move forward.
