The Los Angeles Lakers have been climbing through the ranks of the Western Conference over the last few weeks and are now the second-best team, behind only the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Because of that, a lot of people are asking if they have what it takes to return to the NBA Finals.

Speaking on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Eddie Johnson said they do, and the biggest reason is their depth.

Johnson reminded fans that the Lakers were doing well before Luka Doncic joined, and even when he was having mediocre performances, the rest of the players carried the team.

A lot of people thought the Lakers’ biggest hole would be their downfall this year.

As great as Doncic is, the team was going to severely miss Anthony Davis in the frontcourt, these analysts said.

And while Davis is definitely missed, the Lakers have improved this defense, and multiple players have stepped up and filled the void.

Head coach JJ Redick has numerous stars to choose from, and his bench has improved, especially with stars like Dalton Knecht, Jordan Goodwin, Trey Jemison, and others playing well.

Beyond the depth, the Lakers also have another very powerful asset: confidence.

They believe in what they can accomplish and feel they have what it takes to go far.

This is perhaps the thing that is helping them the most and helped them turn a corner in the post-Davis era.

The Lakers have been on a roll lately, but now they have to keep it up.

They are looking strong in every part of their game, but that won’t mean anything if they don’t stay consistent.

They have come this far and can’t stop now.
