Present at the debate were Anna Sagarra representing Real Betis, Jenny Morris of the City Football Institute and Sarah Batters of the London Lionesses.
The commitment made by the Spanish club Real Betis with the “Forever Green” project is significant. “The initiative reached 600 thousand people on social media with 18 different activities carried out in international academies. The goal is to spread the word of environmental sustainability. We are carrying out 3 annual events. From the ceremony for the club’s anniversary to the Gala on sustainability projects passing through the zero-impact match”.
The idea of sustainability was also reinforced by Jenny Morris of Manchester City: “Educating future generations on the issue of environmental protection is fundamental. Football must and can take its cue from other sports. The aim is always to actively involve young people all over the world”.
During the panel, the topic of gender equality and inclusion was also touched. In particular, Gaia Prenter of the ECA remarked on some important data: “Nowadays few women hold managerial roles in football clubs. The percentage is 18% in management and 30% in administrative areas. Only 7 women have joined the boards of directors. The goal is to increase the quantity by 2029”.
