Doc Rivers Says Team Brought A ‘Secret Weapon’ To NBA Cup Final

The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Cup championship on Tuesday night in a fairly one-sided 97-81 victory.

Following the game, Bucks head coach Doc Rivers spoke about the effort of his team, and their secret weapon.

That weapon was assistant coach Darvin Ham, who led the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA Cup championship last year.

According to ClutchPoints, Rivers said:

“We brought our secret weapon. Darvin Ham is now an undefeated coach in two years in this Cup and then when I said it, TP [Taurean Prince], he was like, what about me? And TP is an undefeated player. So that’s pretty cool for them.”

Although he is an assistant coach now, Ham was the head coach for the Lakers last season and carried them through an undefeated run in the NBA Cup.

This season, the Bucks also went undefeated, meaning Ham has never lost a game during this young tournament.

But the same is true for Taurean Prince, who was a member of the Lakers last season.

The Bucks made it look easy on Tuesday night, trouncing the Thunder from every part of the court and leaving them with a season-low score of 81.

After a very rough start to the year, the Bucks were looking like championship contenders again and that is giving them a lot of confidence and energy moving into the next part of the season.

Ham and Prince will continue to be a part of this team as it pushes forward.

They have two NBA Cup titles and now they are aiming for a championship too.
