There were a lot of questions about De’Aaron Fox’s relationship with the Sacramento Kings when he was traded last month.

Did he dislike playing for the team and how bad was the chemistry behind the scenes?

People are still asking those questions but Fox is now speaking out about his departure from the Kings.

Speaking to ESPN, he said he wanted to leave Sacramento because he had grown tired of turnover in the head coaching position.

“I was like, ‘Yo, I’ve been here for going on my eighth year. If Mike gets fired, I’ll be going on my fifth coach. And I told them, ‘I’m not going to play for another coach. I’m going to play for another team,'” Fox said, per NBACentral.

Fox previously said that he would never want to leave the Kings, the team that drafted him back in 2017.

He said that he loved living in the city and was very pleased with the supportive fanbase.

But this season changed everything.

When the Kings got off to a 13-18 start, the front office made the shocking choice to cut ties with Mike Brown, who had led the Kings through their exciting “light the beam” chapter a couple of seasons ago.

That was apparently the straw that broke the camel’s back and convinced Fox that it was time to go.

When he decided his exit had arrived, Fox had one team in mind: the San Antonio Spurs.

The idea of playing alongside Victor Wembanyama was very appealing and Fox made no secret of his desire to head to San Antonio.

Since coming to the Spurs, Fox has averaged 19.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.6 assists.

On Friday night, Fox will battle against the Kings for the first time since his trade and will attempt to conquer the same men he used to play with.
