Among the players most enthusiastic about head coach Marco Rose’s decision to take the team on an Austrian retreat this weekend, RB Leipzig full-back David Raum was the first to laud Rose after a disappointing 0-0 draw against Freiburg in the Bundesliga Topspiel on Saturday night. The 26-times-capped German international lauded Rose’s leadership when speaking to Sky Germany.

If you look at the game, one point is definitely not enough,” Raum noted. “We keep drawing away from home and that’s not our aspiration. But we made some good progress, had a good game plan, and the coaches did a great job of getting us prepared.

“There’s ease and joy in training, in part thanks to the short [Salzburg] training camp,” Raum continued. “The general mood feels right, but we just can’t transfer it to the game. We just have to admit that it’s not easy here in Freiburg and take the positives with us.

Marco has a good relationship with everyone, fosters a positive atmosphere, and always finds the right words after games,” Raum concluded. “It’s definitely not the coach. He has not only influenced me here, but makes [useful] connections with every player.
