NBC’s return to NBA broadcasting is taking shape in spectacular fashion, marking the end of its 20-plus year absence from the league.
The network has secured an 11-year broadcasting deal starting in the 2025-26 season, sharing rights with Prime Video as TNT steps away from NBA coverage.
Adding star power to this major comeback, NBC has reportedly landed one of basketball’s biggest names.
According to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony is joining the network as a studio analyst, bringing his wealth of NBA experience to television screens nationwide.

Anthony won’t be alone in this new venture.
He’s set to team up with scoring legends Reggie Miller and Jamal Crawford, though his role will differ slightly.
While Miller and Crawford will be in the broadcast booth calling games, Anthony will share his insights from the studio.
It’s a perfect landing spot for the former NBA star, who walked away from his playing career in 2023.
Melo’s basketball resume speaks volumes. Over 19 seasons, he built a Hall of Fame-worthy career that includes 10 All-Star selections and an Olympic gold medal.
His impact on the game, particularly during his stints with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks, established him as one of the NBA’s premier scorers.
This firsthand experience at basketball’s highest level makes him uniquely qualified to break down the game for viewers.
The move to broadcasting seems natural for Anthony, who’s already proven his analytical chops in the media world.
His podcast, 7PM in Brooklyn, has showcased his ability to dissect the game with both expertise and authenticity.
