This past summer, Nico Williams of Athletic Club attracted significant transfer interest from top clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain.
After an impressive 2023-24 season, where he featured in 37 matches and helped Athletic Club win the 2024 Copa del Rey, Williams also played a key role in Spain’s triumph at UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany.
This season, Williams has contributed two goals and five assists in 22 appearances across all competitions for Athletic Club. According to The Athletic, he is becoming increasingly open to the idea of moving abroad.
While Barcelona are familiar with the terms of a potential deal, the decision will ultimately rest with Williams. At the same time, Premier League sides like Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Chelsea are all weighing him as an option for next summer.
Bayern Munich and PSG are also monitoring his development, with the Ligue 1 side having already reached out to his representatives last summer.
Are Bayern Munich a serious contender for Nico Williams?
Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported on Monday that Bayern Munich are keeping an eye on Williams as they look ahead to next summer’s transfer window.
Sporting directors Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are planning to bolster the team with one or two high-caliber wingers, depending on the futures of Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Bryan Zaragoza.
The 22-year-old Spaniard, currently at Athletic Bilbao, is expected to be available for €50 million to €60 million, making him a potential target for the Bavarian club.
