kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen are scouting the centre-back market ahead of the winter transfer window in January.
Centre-back is slowly becoming a problem area for Leverkusen, not only is their defence drastically worse compared to last season, but the future of their current crop of defenders is up in the air.
The future of Jonathan Tah is widely publicised, Nordi Mukiele is currently on loan from PSG while Edmond Tapsoba and Piero Hincapié are consistently linked with moves away from the BayArena. Leverkusen do have Jeanuël Belocian in their ranks but it is still too early to consistently rely upon him. This then also makes the decision to send Odilon Kossounou out on loan an even more questionable one.
Leverkusen are currently fourth in the Bundesliga nine points off of Bayern Munich already whilst only having kept one clean sheet this season, a 0-0 draw with VfB Stuttgart. Die Werkelf’s defence has looked far from solid despite the personnel being the same as they were during their unbeaten season last year.
