Police have arrested a woman over the death of Steve Bruce’s four-month old grandson Madison. In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm an investigation is ongoing and a woman in her 40s was arrested on suspicion of child neglect. “She was questioned and released on bail pending further inquiries.” It is understood police are investigating the woman’s phone following Madison’s death. A North West Ambulance spokesperson said: “We attended a private address in Bowdon, on 18 October 2024 following a 999 call at 07:07. “One patient was taken to hospital. Two ambulances, a response vehicle, and an advanced paramedic attended the incident.” The heartbreaking news in October prompted Bruce to step away from his duties as manager of Blackpool. His temporary break from the dugout saw the former Manchester United defender miss the club’s League One defeat to Barnsley. Madison was the perfect little boy and the most perfect nephew, life will never be the same without him.” Bruce returned to the dugout last month for his side’s FA Cup win over Gillingham. Blackpool have since won four of their last nine matches across all competitions under the former Newcastle boss. The Tangerines are next in action at home to Aston Villa under-21s in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.
