Bayern Munich have made it no secret that they hope to lure Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz to the club at the end of the campaign.
While the German International’s deal at the BayArena is not set to expire until 2027, it is expected that Wirtz will depart in the summer should Leverkusen receive a lucrative fee.
The 21-year-old’s management have indicated that they would prefer Wirtz to move abroad, with Real Madrid the most likely destination should the midfielder elect not to remain in Germany.
However, despite their interest, Bild are reporting that confidence is growing within the Bayern camp about Wirtz preferring a move to Bavaria.
Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are indicating to those at the club that during talks with Wirtz’s representatives, suggestions have been made that Der Rekordmeister have a strong chance of finalising a deal for the 21-year-old.
It is understood that Eberl and Freund have recently contacted Wirtz’s camp again as they look to convince them on a move to Bayern over Los Blancos.
Nevertheless, this is not the only convincing they have to do, as should they get the green light from Wirtz’s representatives, they will need to persuade Bayern’s supervisory board to meet Levekrusen’s asking price of €150 million for the 21-year-old.
While this fee is believed to be possible for the record champions should they sell on a few of their assets, currently, offers for players deemed to be surplus to requirements, such as Kingsley Coman and Leon Goretzka, are not forthcoming.
Regardless, this is not expected to get in Bayern’s way of luring Wirtz to the club, having been tracking the German international for the past eight years.
