Netflix's Wednesday series is coming back for another season!
In January 2023, creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar confirmed the show had been renewed for season 2 in an interview with Tudum.
"It's been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world," they said in a statement. "Thrilled to continue Wednesday's tortuous journey into season two. We can't wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn't emptied the pool first."
Based on characters created by Charles Addams, the first season followed Jenna Ortega as the titular Wednesday Addams as she attempted to solve a monster mystery at her new school, Nevermore Academy.
With Tim Burton attached as executive producer and a number of A-list stars including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán and former Wednesday Addams, Christina Ricci, the show, which was first announced in 2021, was a major success.
From the returning cast to the new characters who could join, here's everything to know about the second season of Wednesday.

Which cast members are returning for Wednesday season 2?
Ortega is slated to reprise her titular character alongside Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Moosa Mostafa, Victor Dorobantu, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo.
Which cast members are not returning for Wednesday season 2?
As Netflix confirmed the official cast list for season 2 in May 2024, Deadline reported that Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane and Naomi J Ogawa would not be back as series regulars. The outlet added that only McShane is slated to reprise his role as Sheriff Donovan Galpin as a guest star to wrap up his character's storyline.
Who is joining the cast of Wednesday season 2?
In an interview with TVLine, Gough and Millar revealed that they would love to include even more Addams family characters in season 2. "We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles," co-showrunner Millar said.
While the show's primary focus will still be on Wednesday in a second season, they added that they "definitely want to feature the family as we did this season in a couple of episodes."
During Tudum: A Global Fan Event in June 2023, the cast further teased that fans will see more of Wednesday’s family in the new season as they recounted various fan theories.
In May 2024, Netflix announced that several notable stars would be joining the cast, including Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor as series regulars.
Guest stars include Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotamo and Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fester in 1991’s The Addams Family.
What will Wednesday season 2 be about?
While an official synopsis for the new season hasn't been revealed yet, the showrunners previously revealed that they plan to delve even more into Wednesday's growth as a character.
"The series is really about a girl who sees the world in black and white, and learning there are shades of gray," Gough told TVLine. "I think like any relationship or any friendship, it can get complicated by other factors. It's never going to be smooth sailing. And it's really her learning to navigate the ups and downs of friendship."
During a conversation with Elle Fanning for Variety‘s Actors on Actors, Ortega added that the show is also "ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday" in the new season. “We’ve decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more,” Ortega added. “Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously.”
In an interview with 1883, Emma Myers, who plays Enid on the show, shared her hopes that her character would find her confidence in the new episodes.
"She’s finally grown into her wolf abilities, and I would like to see her use that instead of being scared and upset by it. I would love to see her be an instigator in things instead of just being dragged along with it," Myers said.
Is there a trailer for Wednesday season 2?
In September 2024, Netflix released the first behind-the-scenes sneak peek at Wednesday season 2.
"This season is going to be bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine," Zeta-Jones can be heard saying in the 40-second teaser as viewers are shown footage of the cast and crew on set.
Before the clip concludes, Wednesday speaks. "If we showed you any more, your eyes would bleed, and I'm not that generous," she says in her monotone voice.
When does Wednesday season 2 film?
On May 7, 2024, Netflix confirmed that production for season 2 was underway in Ireland as they posted a photo of the cast on set.
Will there be a Wednesday season 3?
Speaking with Variety, Millar revealed that they have a few seasons already mapped out for the show. "For us, it's always looking at the future, and when we sit down to create a show, it's looking at multiple seasons, ideally," he explained.
"That's never expected, but that's the anticipation that hopefully the show is successful. So you always lay out at least three or four seasons' worth of potential storylines for the characters. It can evolve and change," he said, adding, "We certainly have a pretty clear runway of what we want to do in future seasons."
