No battle is too big on Human vs. Hamster!
On the upcoming quirky competition series, which is executive produced by Chip and Joanna Gaines and airing on Max, the "world’s most remarkable pet hamsters" will compete against teams of humans to determine "which species is superior."
The hamsters and humans will take on challenges that "test their speed, strength, agility – and, of course, their eating prowess," according to an official synopsis. The team that comes out on top will then enter into “an epic obstacle course – The Cage – where they must escape before the hamsters to win," per the synopsis.

In the trailer for the new lighthearted new series — which is hosted by Saturday Night Live cast member Sarah Sherman and football commentator Kyle Brandt — the hamsters face off against the humans in a series of challenges fit for the furry animals.
“Gather around mammals, big and small,” Sherman begins and Brandt chimes in, “This is a battle of the Titans.”
“Welcome to Human vs. Hamster. The ultimate test for declaring the ultimate species,” Sherman adds. "Who reigns supreme, will be human or hamster?”

The pair are then joined by the resident hamster enthusiast, Brian Balthazar, who asks, “Did you know that hamsters sweat through their feet?”
“Same, Brian, same,” Brian responds.
Brandt explains the competition will consist of teams of humans facing off against “the ham-stars.”
“If those hamsters are listening, we’re here to educate and to dominate,” one human contestant proclaims, while another adds, “We're gonna show these hamsters that the only scrubs here are the ones we're wearing.”
It’s not the humans who are getting in on the trash talk. Captions in the trailer show the hamsters’ internal thoughts.
“Prepare to lose to filthy humans,” one notes, while another adds, “I will devour the competition.”
The eight-episode series will include themed episodes, including: “Teachers vs Nurses,” “Trivia Kings and Volunteer Queens,” “Weekend Warriors and Theater Kids,” “Wrestlers and Lawyers,” “Rhode Island Firefighters and New Jersey Firefighters,” “Magicians and Dancers,” “Flight Attendants and Tooth Fairies” and “Caroling Elves and Christmas Candy Clerks.”
Chip Gaines previously opened up about finding inspiration for the new Max series while watching Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce during the Conversation with Chip & Joanna Gaines event at PaleyFest NY 2024 on Oct. 21.
“I was watching Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce, and somehow, maybe… Kelce, at the time, ripped off his shirt at some big football event or something after he had retired,” he shared. “Is everybody familiar? All right? And I just thought, you know what would be funny? Humans versus hamsters.”
“Willie Nelson says he wrote some of his most famous lines literally in 15 minutes, like in the you know, the way from point A to point B,” he added. “I feel like this was my point of inspiration. Watching Kelce rip his shirt off.”
