Milan standout performer Tijjani Reijnders opened up on his life at Stadio San Siro after becoming one of the fan favorites. During his comprehensive interview with MilanTV, the Netherlands international admitted he feels at home.
Reijnders penned a five-year contract at Milan in the summer of 2023 after the Italian powerhouse pipped Barcelona to his signature. Following a topsy-turvy maiden campaign in Serie A, the 26-year-old has flourished this term.
Indeed, Reijnders has soaked up the limelight as Paulo Fonseca’s savior. His second-half winner in a 1-0 triumph at Hellas Verona threw the under-pressure Milan boss a lifeline. That was the Dutchman’s eighth competitive goal this season.
Considered among the most popular players among the Milan faithful, Reijnders confirmed he has finally settled in Italy.
“Now I truly consider it home,” Reijnders stated, as reported by Calciomercato. “For about a year, when we’re in the Netherlands, and I tell my wife Marina to go home, I mean here in Milan. I feel very comfortable.
“Friends and family can visit us easily since the flight is only an hour and a half. Life is good in Italy, especially the food. If I go downtown, of course, there are fans who ask for photos, but it’s not something over the top.“
Milan will likely need Reijnders at his best when they take on resurgent Roma on Sunday evening. Stuck eight points adrift of fourth-placed Lazio, Fonseca’s charges can’t afford a slip-up in their last league outing in 2024.
