Scottie Pippen on Michael Jordan: 'He's a very difficult person to deal with'
Scottie Pippen on Michael Jordan: ‘He’s is a very difficult person to deal with. I played with him for years, so I know that when it’s time for you to move in your direction then go in your direction, don’t sit there and try to procrastinate or stretch it that the relationship is not where it was or not what it used to be and it’s never going to be the same, so why try and make something out of nothing, or try to make something that was never there. So yeah, great teammate, but we just never were great friends. Source: YouTube What’s the buzz on Twitter? Patrick Bet-David: Okay, so then if I talk to an NBA owner and I want to find an all-around player to be my number one, do you think the average owner is going to pick you or LeBron? Pippen: I don’t know. Bet-David: Got it, okay. Pippen: Do you want individual accolades or do you want championships? Because I didn’t chase mine. -via YouTube / January 19, 2025 Magic Johnson: Nobody that has played could do all the things that Michael Cooper could do. It’s probably Dennis Rodman, Michael Cooper and Scottie Pippen. Those three dudes, and Dennis Johnson, those four for me were the best defenders. They were fast, quick and one step didn’t mean anything (laughs). And they were all mean. Man when I played against all of those dudes, I hated playing against them.” -via SportsKeeda / January 15, 2025 Michael Scotto: The Chicago Bulls announce Derrick Rose will have his No. 1 jersey retired during the 2025-26 season. Rose is the fifth Bulls player to do so, joining Jerry Sloan (4), Bob Love (10), Michael Jordan (23), and Scottie Pippen (33). Cartwright considered the question. “We won six (championships),” Cartwright said of the Bulls. With Jordan’s help, however, “We could have won eight straight (titles),” he said. Following Jordan’s retirement in 1993, “We still were able to go to the Eastern Conference Finals and ended up losing to the Knicks,” Cartwright said. “Had he been there, that would have been our easiest championship because they played against Houston (in the NBA Finals) and we killed them (during the regular season).” -via Sacramento Bee / January 18, 2025 You know they talk about pure hoopers and skill. If you had to draft a starting five, with guys like Jamal and yourself, who would you pick? Pure hoopers—how many players? Five hoopers, is that what you’re saying? KEVIN DURANT: I’m going to leave out a lot of dudes, but if I had to pick five off the top—because you’re just putting me on the spot like that—I’mma go: Kyrie Irving at the one. It’s a debate between Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan at the two. I know you’re from Chicago, so you might hear this and get confused, but purely skill-wise—Kobe. Yeah, Kobe. He’s got that three-ball, he can handle, he’s got the wiggle, and he can do all the technical stuff MJ can do. So, it’s a toss-up, but I’mma go with Kobe at the two. Alright, for the three, I’mma go Melo—no, actually, I’mma go T-Mac. Yeah, T-Mac at my three. T-Mac at the three, for sure. I’ll have to play the four since it’s my team. And at the five, I’mma go KG. I think KG is underrated, man. Too underrated. He’s just so underrated. -via YouTube / January 16, 2025 When Travis asked James who guarded him, the Los Angeles Lakers star definitively said, “Nobody, I was unguardable,” setting off an eruption of laughter from the Kelce brothers. “I was in Chicago at MJ’s court, it was called ‘Hoops,’” James said before referencing an interview Artest had with Paul George about James’ dominance. “When I finally got out there, I was busting ass, man,” James said. “I was nervous, I was nervous as hell being out there with MJ and the rest of those guys, but I was like, ‘I’m about to go crazy,’ and I did.” -via New York Times / January 15, 2025
