Roma’s Dybala: “Contract Renewal? My Future is Thursday’s Match”

Paulo Dybala may not have scored directly in Roma’s 3-1 victory over Genoa, but his 100th appearance for the Giallorossi was still impactful. The Argentine playmaker was instrumental throughout the match, providing the assist for Stephan El Shaarawy’s game-changing goal. As Roma continues to climb the Serie A table, questions about Dybala’s future with the club persist.

Dybala’s current contract with Roma is set to expire on June 30, 2025. However, an extension clause will be triggered if he reaches a predetermined number of appearances. Should this renewal occur, it would reinstate the €12 million release clause that recently expired.

When asked about his future after the match, Dybala skillfully sidestepped the question. He told Sky Sport:

“The future is Thursday. We need to rest because we have a difficult match on Thursday.”

Reflecting on the game against Genoa, Dybala praised both teams’ first-half performances while highlighting the impact of El Shaarawy’s introduction:

“I think they had a good first half, but so did we. It’s difficult to find space against Genoa, then El Shaarawy’s entry in the second half helped us find more freshness on the left. Stephan scored a very important goal to get back into the game.”

The Argentine expressed satisfaction with Roma’s recent form, stating:

“We are aware of the season we are having and we are happy with the latest performances, we are doing well. There’s still a long way to go and there are many close matches. We hope to continue like this because it’s a long season.”

In a separate interview with DAZN, Dybala further emphasized his contentment at Roma:

“I’m happy to be part of this team, I feel good, we want to continue like this. If that free kick had gone in, it would have been one of the best goals of my career.”
