Federico Balzaretti will soon formally return to Roma as an exec, helping out with the scouting and serving as the loan manager. He had covered such a role after hanging his cleats in 2015. He spent time as an exec at Verona and Udinese afterward, Il Messaggero reports.
The former fullback also had a few turns as a pundit for DAZN and commented on Paulo Dybala in a recent show (via Mediaset).
“He’s the best lefty in the Serie A. He’s extraordinary and unique. Players of that quality are rare. There are no doubts if we consider just his value and impact. His future will depend on who the next coach will be. Roma can still chase after important goals.”
According to Calciomercato, the capital club has yet to receive a tangible bid from Galatasaray for La Joya, who doesn’t seem in a rush to leave either. The Giallorossi haven’t actively started searching for a replacement. They were offered Giacomo Raspadori like a few other teams.
Director Florent Ghisolfi will have a few other concerns in January. He’s looking for one or two defenders depending on whether Mario Hermoso will stay. They have laid eyes on Racing Club’s Marco Di Cesare, Luiz Felipe, and Parma’s Enrico Delprato.
They could add another man on the right wing and have earmarked Gabriele Zappa and Devyne Rensch. Norberto Beto would be the easiest solution to deputize Artem Dovbyk as the Friedkin family has completed their Everton takeover.
In addition to Lorenzo Pellegrini, the future of Bryan Cristante also hangs in the balance, Il Tempo reports (via OneFootball). He hasn’t played in a month due to an ankle sprain and no longer seems essential to Roma.
