Roma are determined to secure Alexis Saelemaekers on a permanent basis following his impressive performances since joining the club. The Giallorossi are planning direct contact with the Belgian player’s agent in the coming days to discuss the potential transfer.
Calciomercato report that Saelemaekers’ representative, Stipic, recently visited Milan to gauge the Rossoneri’s intentions. However, Milan has yet to make a final decision on Tammy Abraham’s future, which complicates the situation. The two players were involved in a straight swap deal last summer without any option to buy.
For Abraham to remain with Milan, he would need to accept a salary reduction. Meanwhile, Milan are standing firm on their valuation of Saelemaekers, demanding no less than 18 million euros and refusing to offer any discounts.
Roma’s sporting director, Ghisolfi, addressed the matter on Friday, stating, “We will discuss when the time is right.” Currently, Roma is working on multiple fronts in the transfer market. The club is expecting the arrivals of Rensch and Gollini in the capital today, and once Shomurodov’s transfer to Empoli is finalized, the French sporting director will search for a backup striker for Dovbyk. In the final week of the transfer window, Roma plans to make a push for Frattesi.
Saelemaekers has made a significant impact since joining Roma. Brought in at the request of Daniele De Rossi on the last day of the transfer window, he missed two months due to an ankle injury. He wasn’t available under Juric’s management but returned to action under Ranieri. Now, he has established himself as an indispensable starter on the right flank, already scoring four goals in Serie A, including a crucial one in the derby.
