Ravichandran Ashwin breaks his silence on alleged jibe at Rohit Sharma after India’s defeat against Australia in the MCG Test

The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been a rollercoaster of astonishments and thrillers, both on and off the field. Adding fuel to the fire of controversies, Ravichandran Ashwin has set social media abuzz with a contentious post that many believe to be a veiled dig at Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.

The off-spin wizard who recently retired from international cricket after the third Test match at Brisbane posted on X while India were struggling their way out during the final day of the Boxing Day Test.

“Good leaders emerge when they show resolve for a scrap” Ashwin wrote on X. The post went viral on social media with Indian fans speculating that Ashwin’s post was a jibe at the kind of captain Rohit has been in the series. The post garnered a lot of attention on social media.

Ashwin’s clarification on the alleged jibe 

Amidst widespread speculations and supposed rift between Ashwin and Rohit, the former Indian off-spinner provided a clarification in a separate post, and tried to put an end to the gossip.  He explained that the earlier post was a reference to Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s brave stand against the Australian onslaught on the final day of the Boxing Day Test. Several Indian fans, however, still believe that Ashwin had earlier hit out on the Indian skipper and is now taking a step back amidst widespread reactions.
