The Lille forward is one of the most in-demand players in Europe this season. Jonathan David has discussed the possibility of a move away from Lille in JanuaryGetty He has scored 13 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions, including four strikes in as many Champions League matches. Those goals have come against Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Juventus. David has also scored 29 goals in 56 caps for Canada since making his senior international debut in 2018. The 24-year-old is also out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he could leave Lille for free in the summer. However, the French side would still be able to cash in on the Canadian when the transfer window re-opens in January. David has now given his thoughts on a possible mid-season move, having been linked with a host of clubs during the summer. He told The Athletic: “Going to a club mid-season is never easy. “It’s not like the beginning of a season where you have a pre-season, you get to know your teammates, you have time to gel. “In January, things are very hectic. It’s about right now. It’s tougher.” David previously moved from his boyhood club in Ottawa to Gent in Belgium midway through the season aged just 18. The 24-year-old striker is currently out of contract at the end of this seasonAFP Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal are amongst the clubs said to be tracking the forward, though. None of those sides are David’s dream club, however, as he expressed his desire to one day play for Barcelona. He added: “(Barcelona) was always the team I grew up supporting. When you grow up supporting a team, it’s your dream to play for them.” The Spanish champions are currently top of LaLiga having won 11 of their opening 13 matches. Hansi Flick’s side sit six points clear of bitter rivals Real Madrid, who have a game in hand.
