I Normally Don’t Cry
Even when I feel the urge, tears are usually at a minimum. Yet crying is what I did last Sunday on my drive to the grocery store, then while pushing my shopping cart down the frozen foods aisle, and on the drive home again. A friend of mine, a beautiful man with a wonderful spirit, loved by many, left this world. A piece of my heart went with him.
These days, the passage of life and the limited time we have left to us sparks many conversations in our home. Ken and do our best to support one another with encouraging words like acceptance, surrender, and courage, as well as life-affirming concepts such as going with the flow, living our best life, and life is vapor. These reminders buoy us and strengthen our spirits.
Still, each new challenge, every loss, each goodbye can break one’s heart. Over a lifetime, depending on how much you allow yourself to love, there can be so many breaks it leaves you wondering how a heart can truly ever mend? Yet, perhaps our scars don’t signify brokenness, but resilience…
