Paul Pogba officially available for free as Juventus confirm decision over his future

Pogba’s ban was recently reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) meaning he can resume training with a club in January and return to football in March. However, Juventus have since moved in a different direction which has seen them offload their biggest earners in favour of a more youthful approach. Pogba’s contract was due to run until 2026 but boss Thiago Motta’s recent admission that the World Cup winner ‘was a great player’ insisted that Juventus now view the midfielder as past the peak of his powers. A statement from Juventus said: “Juventus Football Club and Paul Pogba announce that they have reached a mutual agreement for the termination of their contract as of 30 November, 2024. “The club wishes Paul the very best for his professional future.” In a statement, Pogba said: “My time at Juventus has come to an end. “It has been a privilege to pull on the shirt of the bianconeri and to share so many special moments together. “I cherish the memories we made. They live on. “Even in the most difficult moments over the past year, your support was crucial and I want to thank Juve fans around the world for their compassion. There has also been interest from Saudi Arabia as well as MLS with the ambitious Inter Miami also an option. A potential link-up with Lionel Messi is likely to be fuelled further by the news that Pogba is currently training in Miami where he owns a property. The France star is believed to be working hard on his return and excited to play again following his reduced ban. He is also open to joining a side playing at next summer’s FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. Inter Miami are one of 32 teams invited to take place in the competition that includes Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City. After hearing that his ban had been reduced, Pogba who maintained his innocence throughout the saga said: “Finally the nightmare is over. “Following the decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, I can look forward to the day when I can follow my dreams again.” CAS confirmed that whilst Pogba inadvertently took DHEA, a substance that is on WADA’s banned list, the drug only affects females.
